Guest Carmen Ortiz McGhee
Carmen is Senior Vice President and Resident Sales Director for The Capital office of Aon Risk Services. In this role she is responsible for driving sales growth and market penetration throughout the Maryland, DC and Northern Virginia region. She was recently selected as one of Business Insurance magazine’s 2014 Top 25 Women to Watch. Carmen has also served as Executive Vice President of Sales for Aon’s Cornerstone Innovative Solutions, where she led efforts in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic region. Before joining Aon Cornerstone, Carmen served as Vice President, Investor Relations and Business Development for a boutique real estate private equity firm where she was charged with developing targeted fundraising strategies to more than double the firm’s assets under management. Previously, Carmen engineered programs for a number of non-profit organizations including The Marathon Club (a minority wealth creation organization representing the top 1% of minority wealth in the country), the New America Alliance, the World Airline Entertainment Association and the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
Carmen is a passionate advocate for the growth and success of women and minorities in business, which has led her to present at many illustrious conferences across the country. A Dean’s List graduate of the University of Virginia where she received her degree in Psychology, Carmen holds licenses in Life & Health and Property & Casualty brokerage. She has blogged for Huffington Post, is a board member of the NEA Foundation and the New America Alliance, where she Co-Chairs the American Latina Leadership Caucus.
